It’s a New Year and a New Direction

Jan 1, 2017

For all of us entering the new year with an aggressive interest in growth for our business, it’s not so easy.  Like you, we’re experiencing the dynamic nature of change in everything we do. What was, isn’t any longer. What used to work, doesn’t any more. What we did before, we can’t do any longer. I get it.

You work hard to maintain the business, with one eye focused on the core income producing activity and the other eye on the opportunity, the way to grow, the things to do differently. If you’re like me, you get really fired up about all that exists out there. So many ways to help your clients, so many ways to grow the business, so many exciting things to do that are unique and different and look like great opportunities. 2017 will certainly be a year of change. You can’t sit still in any way.  You’ll get crushed, run over by the doers. It’s time to take control, act on an idea.

Yeah, scary. Believe me, I know. It’s something every good business owner/operator faces. But it has to happen.  Something has to happen or the opposite takes place. Nothing happens…to you… but everything happens around you. That’s not gonna cut it! That’s not good enough. That WILL NOT WORK. Nothing is literally no thing. No thing! Do your clients and potential clients want to be associated with a business that does nothing, that has no thing and services nothing? And while I don’t have the ultimate solution to what needs to be done to capture the opportunities, I know I want to be a part of finding those things.

I for one have committed to doing something, a lot of things — providing some things, creating some things, helping others be something.  That’s what the new year provides as a thought process. A position of purpose. Empowering opportunity.  Authority to do what you choose to do. Do something.

I’ll leave you with a thought that was presented to me as we enter 2017 with all the enthusiasm, energy and excitement of doing, changing, growing. Simply answer this with one thing and you’re off to a great start. Just one thing. Doing that one thing.  That’s something big.

THIS YEAR I WILL…
